Claiming a Business

How do I claim my business?
Go to the business profile page and click "Claim this Business." You'll be asked to verify your relationship to the business by providing documentation. Our team reviews claims within 3–5 business days.
What if my business was already claimed by someone else?
Contact our support team with proof of ownership. We'll review the conflicting claim and transfer ownership if your documentation is valid.
My business is listed incorrectly — can I fix it before claiming?
Yes. Use the "Report" button on the business profile to flag inaccurate information. Our moderation team will review and update the listing.

Pro & Verification

What are the verification tiers?
BlackDistrict has three tiers: (1) Self-Identified — declared during listing creation; (2) Community Verified — confirmed by partner organizations; (3) Document Verified — confirmed with official ownership documents showing 51%+ Black ownership.
What does the Pro subscription include?
Pro includes the Verified Black-Owned badge, priority search placement, the ability to post events and promotions, B2B messaging, advanced analytics, and access to boost listings and homepage features.
How long does verification take?
Document verification typically takes 3–5 business days. Community verification may vary depending on your partner organization.
Can I upgrade from Self-Identified to Document Verified?
Yes. Go to your dashboard and click "Apply for Verification." You'll be guided through the document submission process.

Managing Listings

How do I edit my listing?
Sign in, go to your Dashboard, and click "My Listing." From there you can update your business name, description, category, contact info, photos, and tags.
How do I add photos or a logo?
In the My Listing section, scroll to the Media section. You can upload a logo and multiple business photos. Photos should be high-resolution and show your business clearly.
How do I create an offer or event?
From your Dashboard, navigate to "Offers" or "Events" in the sidebar. Click the button to create a new offer or event. Pro subscribers can post unlimited events and promotions.
Why is my listing not showing in search results?
Your listing must be in "Live" status to appear in search. Check that your listing is complete and published. Newly created listings may take a few minutes to appear in search.

Billing

How do I cancel my Pro subscription?
On the web, go to Account → Pro Subscription → Manage Subscription. This opens the Stripe billing portal where you can cancel. On mobile, manage your subscription through the App Store or Google Play.
Can I get a refund?
We offer refunds within 7 days of the subscription start date for annual plans. Monthly plans are non-refundable. Contact support with your order details.
Why was I charged after canceling?
Subscriptions remain active until the end of the current billing period. You'll retain Pro access until then and won't be charged again.
How do I update my payment method?
Go to Account → Pro Subscription → Manage Subscription. The Stripe portal allows you to update payment methods, download invoices, and manage your billing details.

Account Issues

I can't sign in — what should I do?
Try the "Forgot Password" link on the sign-in page. If you signed up with Google or Apple, make sure to use the same sign-in method. Still stuck? Contact support.
How do I change my email?
Go to Account → Security & Privacy → Change Email. Enter your new address and we'll send a confirmation link to it. Once confirmed, your email is updated automatically. If you run into any issues, contact our support team.
How do I switch between Customer and Business Owner mode?
Go to Account → Account Mode and select your preferred mode. This changes how your dashboard is organized but doesn't remove any access.
How do I delete my account?
Go to Account, scroll to the bottom, and click "Delete Account." This action is permanent and will remove all your data, listings, and reviews.

Reporting

How do I report an inaccurate listing?
On any business profile, click "Report" (at the bottom of the page). Select the reason — inaccurate info, permanently closed, duplicate, not Black-owned, or inappropriate content.
Can businesses be removed?
Yes. Businesses that are found to be fraudulently claiming Black ownership after a verification review will be removed from the directory.
What happens after I submit a report?
Reports are reviewed by our moderation team within 1–3 business days. You'll receive an email notification when the report has been resolved.
